It’s insane to me that a D-VHS release of Dr. T & The Women is currently selling on eBay for $100.
It’s a movie you can buy on regular VHS on Amazon for $4.

The VHS tape you know and love—think “Be Kind, Rewind”—was, for a time, better than DVD. It also had significiantly more annoying DRM. And, for some reason, Firewire.
Let’s talk about the last gasp of VHS, D-VHS, and why it didn’t work.

@lightweight @leighelse @BrodieOnLinux At the risk of starting an all out war with our nearest neighbour, I think it's like Australia and snakes or spiders.... we know they are out there, we know they want to kill us and yet we carry on living with only the occasional nod to the risks. Every so often someone gets bitten, ends up in hospital or worse, people sit up, take notice for 15 minutes, then carry on as before.
@leighelse @lightweight @BrodieOnLinux Yeah. Funnily enough, that's also what I do for relaxing... with FL Studio and Logic Pro, but haven't yet come across any Linux plug-ins (or if I did, the Linux aspect didn't fully register).
@BrodieOnLinux BTW: In case anyone reading these threads thinks otherwise, I'm 100% in agreement with "Microsoft Keeps Making Windows 11 Worse".
@lightweight @leighelse @BrodieOnLinux At the risk of getting into another of those long @lightweight threads, I also think this is a subject that the majority of people just don't feel strongly enough about. Not yet. Maybe never. Maybe it all starts next month.
It takes energy to care about things. Most of us use all ours up worrying about climate or family or poverty or just putting food on the table and staying employed. Moving icons around a screen is, at best, of secondary concern.
Analysis: "More journalists have been killed in Gaza than in both World Wars & other major conflicts combined"...
Including the Civil War, World Wars I & II, Korean, Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos, Yugoslavia 1990, post-9/11 Afghanistan.
“It is, quite simply, the worst ever conflict for reporters."
