Between 1959-1966 America built then abandoned a base in Greenland Called Op Ice worm.
They claimed it was for climate change. In fact it was a nuclear missile site meant for first strike against Russia by going over the N pole.
They powered it with a nuclear reactor. The scientists underestimated the movement of the ice & the roof dropped 5ft in 3 years.
The US packed up & left leaving behind all the nuclear waste.
