Austrians used to have to pay a monthly levy if they had a #radio or #TV in their household or business. This year, the government changed the way the levy is charged. Now all households & businesses must pay the full levy, even if they have no TV. For Austrians who hitherto paid the radio-levy only, this is a serious price increase.
The move was unpopular, to put it mildly. One party was against it: the nationalist Freedom Party.

The U.S. Justice Department sent a letter to Elon Musk’s America PAC warning the political action committee that its $1 million sweepstakes for registered voters in swing states could break a federal law against paying people to vote, CNN reports. In the contest, a person from a swing state who is registered to vote and signs a petition supporting First and Second Amendment rights will be randomly selected as the winner.
