However, the rub is that liquid democracy, as a concept, is associated with blockchain. It didn’t come about because of blockchain, but it’s seen as an enabling factor. If you’ve heard of the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), yes, it’s related.




Next up, we have “liquid democracy,” which essenitally is best seen as a form that combines direct democracy and represenative democracy.

One of the big challenges of representative democracy is that you may not have direct say on an issue you care about. This would let you speak up at will.



It handles the basics—military, the courts, the police—but leaves everything else alone, focusing on governing theft, public safety, or crimes of aggression. So basically zero social safety net, leaving someone else in charge of that.

Maybe that could open up better systems? Who knows.


First up, let’s talk about the night-watchman, or minarchist, state. A very minimalist libertarian-leaning, almost anarchist, model of the state that is essentially leaves government out of it except in very basic or extreme cases.

And when I hear “night watchman,” I think of Batman.
