“Mr. Bezos has told others involved with The Post that he is interested in expanding The Post’s audience among conservatives, according to a person familiar with the matter.”

This is madness. “Conservatives” will never accept The Post unless all its employees fall to their knees, beg forgiveness for their “liberal” sins, pledge fealty to Trump, and then turn the paper into Breitbart News.

Bezos is a journalistic nitwit.

We’ll see how this all pans out, but at the very least, it is now clear that Bezos is willing to interfere the newspaper to further his own personal interests. I thought there was a secure wall between Bezos and WaPo’s editorial policy. That wall has been breached, and I don’t know if they can ever recover. Even if Bezos sold the paper, it would just end up in the hands of another billionaire or massive corporation. (2/2)

A mea culpa: I’ve been defending the Washington Post on here for two years or more. And I do think they have an incredible newsroom and some great columnists. And judging by the way the Post itself is covering the news that it won’t be endorsing a candidate, it seems the majority of the staff are furious and not willing to quietly go along. So kudos to all of those people. (1/2)
